Approach
We started by creating a project plan that outlined all necessary activities to deliver a finished design recommendation. This included an audit of the existing app, mapping key flows, navigation IA, and language usage. We conducted desk research to understand the competitive landscape and used the existing research to obtain insights while creating new user journeys and IA, organizing content into action-oriented buckets and simplifying flows.
Solution
The core demo
Defined a series of authentication cases spanning multiple industry verticals, generating 'Smart Fingerprints' and designing result screens. Developed working demos showcasing positive scan results and alerts.
Result screens
Designed successful scan screens and considered alert scenarios, ensuring seamless user experience even in suspicious item scans.
You can try using scan.laava.id on your smartphone.
Completed designs for app screens, enhancing UI, interactions, colours, and icons while aligning with brand guidelines.

Packaging and label design
Integrated Smart Fingerprints into packaging design, considering size, visual alignment, and instructional copy for a cohesive user experience.
Results
The successful launch of a pilot program, initially implemented with products from Aluvion Wines, marked a significant milestone for Laava. This pilot not only demonstrated the effectiveness of Laava's Smart Fingerprint technology in authenticating products but also garnered valuable insights and feedback for further refinement. Subsequent iterations of the pilot have seen ongoing improvements, with user testing yielding exciting outcomes and learnings that continue to shape future iterations.
Additionally, my role extended to supporting the commercial team by creating tailored pitch materials, contributing to securing Laava's largest account win to date* with Tasmanian Cherries by Reid Fruits.
