Background
HotHouse brings together artists, designers, curators and creative thinkers in a quest to develop models for sustainable environmental change. This “collective experiment” calls upon art and design to offer practical means of transforming spaces, environments, and even cities in ways that are enduring and energising, and that, most importantly, engage all sectors of the community.
Brief
Create a promotional site for the UNSW NIEA Hot House Symposium and encourage engagement leading up to, during and after the event.
Facilitate the role of artists in designing urban space, generating useful art and design interventions that effect real change towards sustainable living in the community.
Attract interest from developers, partners, collaborators, and funding bodies who can support the on-going project.
Build the credibility of NIEA as a leader in the curation of sustainable art.
Approach
After a number of scoping workshops and ideation sessions we determined that in order to meet the objectives we needed two sites, an event site and a blog. To demonstrate Digital Eskimo's values David Gravina wanted Digital Eskimo to be more involved in the event and after a dedicated ideation workshop we came up with an idea that facilitated artist engagement during the event.
